Egg Donation and IVF pregnancy rates soar as ProcreaTec turns 10 years old
November 6th, 2018
Miriam Rayward, Marketing & Patient Experience, ProceaTec, Madrid
According to ProcreaTec’s latest cumulative pregnancy rates for 2018, 9 out of 10 women who choose our clinic achieve their goal of getting pregnant. The latest statistic is made public as ProcreaTec turns 10 years old.
In our positive results, a very important factor is the culture to blastocyst. 65% of patients who underwent an In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) and 99% of Egg Donation patients who got pregnant utilized this technique.
With the culture to blastocyst, the embryos are kept in an incubator for, at least, five days. This allows for a better evaluation of their ability to develop and their quality. The culture to blastocyst and the vitrification of embryos are two techniques that ProcreaTec decided to implement since its foundation in 2008. At that time, it was one of the first clinics to implement these two cutting-edge techniques.
IVF SUCCESS RATES
Our success rates are not only above average in the egg donation treatment, but also for women who undergo IVF using their own eggs. According to the latest data retrieved, a clinical pregnancy was achieved in 6 out of every 10 IVF cycles in women under 35. The success rate for women between 35 and 39 is at 44% and for women over 40, it is at 29%. This is in the first embryo transfer.
In its 10 years, ProcreaTec has also welcomed over 10,000 patients, most of whom have undergone assisted reproduction treatments such as the in vitro fertilization or artificial insemination. In these 10 years, new techniques have also emerged, such as genetic diagnosis, embryo adoption or the embryonic culture with time-lapse technology with the Embryoscope®. With regards to this last technique, ProcreaTec was one of the first centers in Spain to use it. The Embryoscope® is the latest technology incubator that allows for the highest quality in embryo development.
In total, since the clinic started, 2,373 children have been born thanks to assisted reproduction techniques at ProcreaTec. The number of newborns has only increased in the past few years. Some key dates for ProcreaTec are: November 4th, 2009 when the first ProcreaTec baby was born. In September of that same year, the first IVF with Preimplantational Genetic Diagnosis was performed, which resulted in the birth of a baby girl on the 11thof June, 2010.
Egg donation is one of the assisted reproduction treatments that has grown most in the past few years. This increase is highly correlated with women deciding to have children later on in life. According to the Spanish Fertility Society, 68% of women over 40 undergo an egg donation treatment in Spain.
